Hey, I have some local news! The Cross Keys pub got some good news. It’s in Kinnerley, you know? The plan’s conservation part got approved.

Planning officers gave it the go-ahead last week. Shropshire Council originally approved the plan in August 2024. They’re converting the roof into two tourist lets. Roof windows are part of the plan.

It’s a pub from the 14th century. Mark Perry spoke about the changes. He talked with the applicant about it. They revised the work details.

He shared that there’s enough information now. The building can handle the new use. The conservation officer agreed too. They had no objections to the plan details.

The officer believes the work will protect the building. It will also upgrade the space nicely. Andrew Lockley is representing Les Jones. Jones wants to build tourist lodging.

Lockley says the village needs it badly. People have asked locals where to stay. They said Shrewsbury was the nearest place. They want visitors to stay.

That way, they might come back again. They could recommend it to others. Les Jones saved the pub back in 2015. A community wanted to save it.

They did not want it turned into housing. Jones fixed up the pub. He reopened it in 2019.
