Keith Edun is 47. He lived on Strathmore Road in Croydon. Edun used the Kik app for bad things, spreading images of abused children. He downloaded and shared these images and deleted Kik in an attempt to hide his activities.

Detectives began investigating in 2021, focusing on child abuse and exploitation. After receiving a tip, police tracked Edun down, tracing the Kik account to his house.

Another police investigation linked Edun to a terrible act: the rape of a baby in March 2020. Edun’s Kik account was connected to this crime, and police discovered that he had pushed the man to commit the assault.

He was charged in October 2023 and kept in custody. Edun went to Croydon Crown Court on February 14th and received a 13-year jail sentence, along with an eight-year extended license, due to being considered a dangerous criminal.

He also received a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. The judge stated that Edun had a strong interest in harming children and posed a risk to them.

A detective stated that the police work hard to protect children, and this case demonstrates their commitment to stopping online abuse. Even though Edun wasn’t physically present, he was still responsible for causing harm, highlighting that encouraging abuse also makes you guilty.
