Cardiff residents visited Cwmbran recently. About fifty-five people took the train. They did this on Thursday, February 6th.

These folks belong to Cardiff u3a. u3a means University of the Third Age. There are over a thousand u3a groups in the UK. Cardiff u3a has many interest groups. Members create and lead these groups.

“Slow Train Coming” planned the Cwmbran trip. This group visits a new place each month. They walk around and learn local history. They see museums, statues, and buildings.

Someone saw a large group at the lake. It was Cwmbran Boating Lake around 11:30 am. The leader, Ted Richards, spoke about the trip. He thinks every place has interesting things. Ted mentions the group’s record attendance. He estimates fifty-six or fifty-seven people.

He jokes about sunshine and Cwmbran’s appeal. He says he would not have predicted such interest. The path made Cwmbran suitable for a large group. The scenic path goes from the station. It goes around the lake and then back.

Crossing roads is kept to a minimum. The trip included viewing Cwmbran’s sculptures. They also planned to see art in Llantarnam Grange. The group discussed Jak Jones and Lee Dainton, too. He is “one half of Dirty Sanchez.”
