Cwmbran secures a share of £1.5 billion to improve local areas following funding allocation by ministers.

This funding follows a town plan that Rishi Sunak’s government created. Cwmbran and other areas get up to £20 million. They can use the money for many things, like youth clubs and health services.
Local people decide how to spend the funds by means of a local board which includes residents and businesses. They will see options for the money, to fix sidewalks or start watch groups.
Angela Rayner spoke about investment and her desire for communities to thrive because they understand their area best. The new plan lets locals control the money so that they choose what to improve.
Alex Norris believes neighborhoods matter and wants to empower communities. He hopes they can create the growth they want. The money arrives in April 2025, and projects should start in 2026, says Government.
Other areas will receive funding too. Coleraine gets money in Northern Ireland. Kilmarnock is funded in Scotland. Darlington, Scarborough, and Great Yarmouth benefit in England.
