Plans to build a larger house in Stapleton were denied due to size concerns and local regulations.

The new design included more spots for cars and would have increased parking from two to four spaces. Sadly, the council said no on February 12. They worried about the house’s size, feeling it seemed too large for the area.
The new home would be much taller and bigger, which the council felt broke local rules. This height and size would hurt the area’s look. The council’s decision came from Trevor Watson, the planning director.
Watson said the plans broke local rules and impacted the area’s look. The council tried to help, but they found no good solutions. The bungalow already uses the land as a home and sits on 4,103 square metres.
The plans used a special plant for sewage, not connecting to the current system. They did not plan for trash or recycling. The applicants asked the council for advice first, and the council said they needed a new application because of changes.
The applicants can now appeal and fight the council’s decision. Information about appealing is on the council website. Check there to learn the next steps.
