Dog Charlie was hit and dragged by a car. A Darlington mum shares her heartbreak and seeks help for his recovery.

A woman and her daughter found Charlie on North Road. They caught him and took him to a vet, saving Charlie’s life, according to Zoe.
Charlie has serious injuries, like road burns and a large wound near his rear, likely caused by the tire’s friction. Charlie was sedated at the clinic, and vets shaved much of his fir off to examine the wounds.
He went home that night, but his recovery is uncertain and could cost between £4,000 and £10,000. His burns will likely cause tissue damage, and he will need special treatment.
Some cuts can be stitched. Other wounds, like those on his rear, need grafts or castration. Zoe won’t put Charlie down unless he suffers too much, as he is only three years old.
Zoe said Charlie handles trauma well, and she wants to save him with surgery. Charlie is family, not just a dog, so she will do all she can to help; she feels heartbroken and sorry for him.
The family is also hurting; Zoe and her partner have ten kids who are all devastated. They canceled pet insurance after Christmas because it was too expensive.
They hope the driver’s insurance can help and have started a GoFundMe page to raise money for his care. They raised more than £1,300 in under 24 hours, and Zoe is grateful for the community’s help.
