The Old Rectory Dart Team raised almost £2,000 for Macmillan in memory of Kevin Green, a long-standing player.

The Old Rectory Dart Team held the event on February 22 in Leybourne, at The Old Rectory. Kevin Green died on December 15 after bravely fighting cancer for a long time.
People knew him as Mr Christmas because he decorated his home with lights. The team played darts for charity, aiming for 12 hours straight, with another goal being reaching 100,000 points.
About fifty people attended the event and raised around £1,700 for Macmillan. The team hit 100,000 points in six hours. Adam Stewart helped organize the event because Kevin wanted to do this fundraiser, and they did it to honor him.
Another player, Shaun Lee, shared memories of Kevin, who was a team member from the start and always supported the team, even attending while sick. Kevin’s wife, Pat, spoke fondly, noting the team’s great support and concern throughout his illness.
Pat described Kevin as unique, bringing joy as Mr Christmas and helping anyone who asked. She was honored to be his wife. Pat and Kevin met via Gingerbread, a support group for single parents. He proposed just two months later on New Year’s Eve.
They married on April 20, 1989, and Pat says her life began then. Kevin was born in Grimsby and moved near Maidstone at age five. Kevin loved cars and engines, starting as a mechanic and later becoming a garage manager.
For thirty years, they decorated their house with many lights. People came each year for the switch-on, raising over £10,000 for charity. The last event saw 1,000 attendees, joined by a choir and ice cream truck, and occurred on December 1.
