Darwen Company to Assist Bold Venture Park Volunteers with Project
Jenny Foy visited Towergate on February 19. She spoke to the company’s social committee at the Darwen office. Jenny explained what her group does.
The park is historic, dating back to 1889, and is very popular in Darwen. Her group, Friends of Bold Venture Park, keeps the park in good shape as volunteers. They fix up the park, raise money for its upkeep all year, and have events like carols and bat walks. It became Darwen’s second public park.
Towergate gives staff a volunteer day each year. Derek Snowden said his team wanted to help and support a local cause together. The response from staff has been great.
Mayor Brian Taylor likes the plan a lot and supports this community effort fully. He thinks it’s great that local businesses help.
