Hey, guess what I just read? Derco wants to rebuild The Derehams Inn. It’s been empty in Loudwater since 2021. They sent plans to the local council.

They plan to add two small homes; one has a bedroom and the other is a studio. They will also add parking and bike storage, as well as a bin area.

The plan includes fixing up the pub itself. They want a new restaurant and dining space with new storage, plus an accessible toilet. Imagine that! They want to make better staff areas, and an outdoor seating area is also in the works. This could really improve the pub’s appeal.

They’ll knock down sheds in the back and build a rear and side extension, which will also have a first floor extension.

The developer says it will be a useful space with homes and a business, saying it was an underused spot before. They claim the design fits the area and should keep the area’s vibe. The developer says it will help the community, and smaller homes will help people.

The old owners had to sell the pub because it just couldn’t make money. The pub isn’t officially listed, but it’s near Loudwater House, a listed property.

They’re adding electric car chargers, and four bikes can be stored there. Some parking spots will also be for disabled people, which makes it more accessible.

They have eight parking spaces now, and the plans add ten more. They’re keeping and growing the pub, because they know locals want it to stay.

The application went in on January 20, and locals can share their views by March 5. They should decide before April 7, and I’m curious what will happen.
