Going to Peel on weekends is popular. The Sunset City is easy to reach and offers a good afternoon walk. Many visit the beach, castle, or Davison’s. I explored the streets between the promenade and Michael Street and found it very picturesque.

Old fishing cottages are charming, especially as many have vivid colors. It looks like they were painted recently. I walked around the harbor, passing the Creek Inn and Lake Lane before turning onto narrow Church Lane. It goes around St Peter’s ruins; fires damaged this former chapel.

I walked down Castle Street where a pink building stood near the Central pub. It is striking, though some might dislike it. Many pubs once lined this street. Pastel pink, blue, yellow, and green buildings are there.

The Merchant’s House looks majestic; it was a trading center. I went down Crown Street to the prom and soon returned to the winding streets. I went up Market Place past the Marine pub. Charles Street is a gem.

Stone homes line the street, decorated with hanging baskets and plant pots. They will look better in spring. I went up Factory Lane to Stanley Mount where several colorful houses stand. Then, I returned to the prom.

It would be nice to pedestrianize these streets so people could admire them without cars. Residents would likely disagree with that idea though. Exploring this part of Peel was refreshing; it is easy to miss, but rewarding.
