Dog dies after falling from cliff near Sewerby. Coastguard urges dog owners to use leads near cliff edges.

They located the dog about 15 feet down on a dangerous, crumbling ledge. The team prepared a rope rescue system.
Jordan Grebby described the situation, stating the dog moved before they could deploy the technician and then disappeared from sight.
The technician went down the steep cliffs and sadly, found the dog at the bottom, deceased from its fall injuries.
The team always aims for positive outcomes. Grebby explained this heartbreaking result affected both the owners and the team.
Grebby mentioned this was the team’s third fatal dog incident this year. He reminded everyone to keep dogs on leads, especially near cliff edges, and to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard in coastal emergencies.
