Pakenham dog pool gains support but West Suffolk Council seeks more details about the pools impact and conditions.

The West Suffolk committee debated the plan. The application was for a dog training pool in Pakenham. People sent 105 letters supporting it. However, officers think the pool is too close to the windmill, a listed building.
Brownlie said the mill owners brought him there, wanting to raise awareness using social media. Louise Cowen said officers were exaggerating. She thinks the pool benefits the mill and people. Residents sent pictures supporting the pool.
Cowen said the pool revives interest in the windmill and enhances the site. She said rejecting it would disappoint many. Councillor Speed agreed with the public support. He said the support was overwhelming and the parish council supports it.
There are no objections or physical harm. Councillors wanted to accept the pool plans. London said the pool helps people enjoy the windmill and promotes it well. Waldron said the pool brings money to help the windmill.
Some worried about the pool’s blue color. Thirteen members voted for the plan, while two voted against it. The vote opposed the refusal recommendation. So, councillors could only make a “minded to” decision.
They need more details about the pool’s impact. They also need to focus on potential conditions. The color must be considered again.
