Over 7,000 drink-drive arrests in West Yorkshire in three years. Leeds sees most arrests in the last year alone.

Their arrest numbers rank fourth in the UK. Only London, Northern Ireland, and West Midlands had more. Police leadership calls the offense wrong and said they address it seriously.
Leeds had the most arrests in the last year with 651 arrests. Bradford followed with 413 arrests, while Kirklees saw 377 arrests. Wakefield had 359 and Calderdale recorded 216 arrests.
Younger adults are often arrested, with those aged 18 to 34 making up 43%. Adults aged 35 to 51 accounted for 42%. Most arrested last year were men, making up 80% of all cases.
Police consider drunk driving unacceptable because it causes serious road accidents. People get seriously hurt or killed; therefore, police run constant road safety checks. They catch drivers who break laws.
The police have “Operation Limit” each Christmas. The recent campaign arrested many, with 186 arrested for suspected drunk driving. Also, police arrested 93 for suspected drug driving.
The police prosecute drunk drivers and support “Vision Zero.” This strategy aims to reduce road deaths, and they will continue to work toward this goal.
