New data reveals drink-driving hotspots in Hertfordshire, highlighting areas with the highest arrest rates and concerning trends.

Dacorum had the most arrests, actually, with 78. Hertsmere and Welwyn Hatfield tied for second, each having 60 arrests. Three Rivers did the best; they only had 27.
Police arrested many people for drink-driving in Hertfordshire between December 2021 and November 2024. The total was 2,621 arrests, which is a lot. Last year alone, officers arrested 593 drivers for the same offense.
Most offenders were pretty young. People aged 25 to 34 accounted for 32%, while the 35 to 44 age group was next, making up 26% of the arrests. Also, get this: most were men. Eighty-one percent of caught drink-drivers were male, according to Hertfordshire police last year.
Drink-driving deaths are way up, too. The UK hit a 13-year high with about 300 deaths involving drunk drivers in 2022. That’s the worst since 2009. Drink-driving continues to be a problem and risks everyone.
