Daniel Groome, 23, received a suspended sentence after police dash cam footage showed him speeding at 150mph on the A338.

Daniel Groome, 23, from Bournemouth, received a suspended prison sentence for the offense that occurred in June last year, just before midnight. A police officer was watching traffic at Ashley Heath roundabout when Groome’s BMW took a bend too fast. The officer then started chasing the BMW.
The officer pursued the car on the highway, with the police car matching the BMW’s speed. The speed recorded was 153 mph, as the car sped towards a 50 mph zone at Blackwater.
Groome drove 5.2 miles very fast, covering it in half the safe time, a distance that usually takes five minutes.
Groome was charged with dangerous driving. The court gave him a 12-month sentence, suspended for two years, at Bournemouth Crown Court.
He also lost his license for two and a half years and must retake an extended driving test. Police shared the speeding dash cam footage.
PC Kier Dagnall spoke about the incident, saying the speeding could have ended badly and they stopped a possible collision. The driver could have hurt himself, his passenger, or other drivers. The driver had passed his test three weeks earlier and drove at dangerous speeds with someone inside.
There is no excuse for speeding, which endangers other drivers, said PC Dagnall. The footage shows the BMW’s high speed as the car vanished from sight quickly.
PC Dagnall talked about young drivers who might speed and test limits, emphasizing that this is not okay. Drivers risk losing their licenses, and a crash could have awful consequences. Speeding is never worth the risk.
