Shaun Wilson admitted drink-driving on the A10 with a flat tire. He was found lying on a verge and is now banned.
Shaun Wilson went to court on Thursday. He lives on Burley Road in South Wootton and admitted to driving over the alcohol limit.
On January 21, it happened at 3:40 AM. Wilson was driving from Downham towards Lynn while drunk on the A10 road. He hit a curb, and then his tire went flat.
He stopped on the grass and lay down. A person stopped to help him with the tire. Police came to the scene later.
Tests showed his breath had 89mcg of alcohol, while the legal limit is only 35mcg. The prosecutor said Wilson apologized to police.
His lawyer said Wilson argued with his partner that night and wanted to just leave the situation. But he drove home to Lynn instead. The lawyer noted Wilson made a bad choice, saying intoxication clouded his judgment.
He also stated Wilson is a good man, with no prior convictions and a “good job.” People cared about him that night, and he felt humbled by their concern.
The court fined Wilson £940 and banned him from driving for 20 months. He must also pay a £375 victim surcharge, and court costs added £85 to that total.
