A woman who reported a fallen tree while drunk driving received a ban and fines despite cooperating initially.

She showed up in court and admitted she did it. Haskell, who is 23, was out drinking with friends. She stopped her car because a tree had fallen. The tree blocked the A30 road late that night.
Chloe turned on her hazard lights for safety. Then, she called the police to report it. When police arrived, they gave her a breathalyzer test. The test showed she was over the limit.
The test result was 66. The legal limit is just 35 in England. Chloe even told police she’d used cocaine. However, that roadside test showed nothing. At first, she cooperated with the officers. They smelled alcohol on her breath.
Later, she tried to escape from the police car. She tried to get out the front door. Her lawyer said she did a good thing. She stayed to warn others about the tree.
He also said Chloe thought she wasn’t too drunk. Plus, she had no prior record. The judge banned her from driving for almost two years. He also made her pay fines and court fees.
She must pay £120 plus £85 in costs. There is also a surcharge. If she takes a special course, it could shorten her ban. She needs to complete this by April 2026. She didn’t get another penalty for not having insurance.
