Funding for Dumfries is delayed but the board will hire a manager to be ready to start projects on time.

Richie Nicoll chairs the town board. He gave an update this week. Dumfries will still get the money and the UK Government provides the funds. The money should arrive April 2026.
Nicoll said this might seem bad, but work wouldn’t start sooner anyway. Procedures and tenders take time, almost until April 2026.
The board wants to be ready and will hire a program manager. This person starts work right away and will launch public projects, ensuring they follow government rules.
This manager helps them act fast, so they can start when the money arrives. Nicoll called it a good step, noting the manager will be a local person.
The board created three groups. They focus on transport and connections, safety and security, and high streets and heritage.
The board needs two new members. Their new office is at The Hub, located on Friars Vennel.
Nicoll knows people might worry and understands the delay is not ideal. He pointed out their proactive work, calling it a positive approach.
He invited people to visit and talk at the new office. It will open soon for business. The board is determined to succeed.
They feel sure they can deliver what Dumfries asked for.
