Dungannon’s Railway Park gets the green light after two decades! Phases two and three are approved for recreation, paths.

Phase two includes a recreation and sports area. Phase three focuses on walking and biking paths. It will also create a bridge. Phase one already got approved in May 2024. Now, officers can proceed further.
The park will be free and open daily. It will offer lots of ways to be active. You can stroll, play sports, or bike. Families can enjoy grass and playgrounds. It will connect different areas of town.
People can travel through nature on foot or bike. The park has spaces for wildlife. They plan markets, concerts, and events. These will make it a multifunctional park. It won’t just be paths and grass.
Imagine usable outdoor areas with different landscapes. The underpass will be safer with art and lights. Trees will line the pathways. Lighting changes will help walkers and cyclists. This improves a space by the car park next to the new bridge.
These changes offer a safer route, connecting the park to north and east Dungannon. The route links Miltown to the park’s center. It will be greener and cleaner too. Sports and nature encourage activity.
There will also be wetlands and play areas. The plan protects existing plants. They will add new growth to attract animals.
Councillor Monteith is glad it’s moving forward. He said the community lost hope. He hopes this progress renews their faith.
Councillor Molloy seconded the plan. He wants to see work begin soon. Too many meetings have already happened. Dungannon’s project is behind others in Mid Ulster. It’s time they start working on it.
