BoyleSports gets approval for a new betting shop in Stanley, revitalizing a vacant site and boosting the local economy.

Planners believe it will help Stanley’s economy by bringing more people to town. Past appeals allowed betting shops downtown.
The shop will get a new look with a grey front, new blue aluminum doors and windows. Signs and lights are also planned, along with satellite dishes and three air conditioning units out back.
The location isn’t near homes, and the AC units will run quietly at night, significantly reducing noise.
One nearby business objected, worrying about too many betting shops risking Stanley’s retail mix. They cited a local planning policy about choice.
Officials stated betting shops are a small part, roughly only 4% of the shopping area. This helps with empty storefronts, as vacancies are a problem in Stanley.
Planners said this betting shop is OK overall, cutting empty buildings. This benefit trumps the concerns voiced, and the application got approved on February 10, 2025.
Construction must start within three years and can happen Mondays to Fridays from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Saturdays have shifted hours, running from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
