Learn about sustainable food systems! Free events explore food, climate change, and creating a better, fairer food future.

The first event is on March 6. It runs from 7 PM to 9 PM at Old Elvet Methodist Church Hall. It’s called ‘A Sustainable Food System’. Alan Warde and Sarah Wakefield will speak there and answer questions about food.
A second event happens on March 14. It’s from 1:15 PM to 2:30 PM at Northern Stores and Deli. It is in the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre. Aisha Basurto leads this informal chat. These events explore important food questions. Can the Earth feed everyone? What kind of food will we eat? How do we make food sustainable?
The food system has many parts, including growing, harvesting, and processing, as well as storing, transporting, and waste disposal. This system impacts climate change a lot.
These activities create greenhouse gases from many sources. Deforestation and livestock are sources. Energy use and transport are also big factors, and food processing hurts the environment too.
The food system also hurts biodiversity. Deforestation reduces animal habitats, and soil degrades from farming practices. Chemicals also cause harm.
They want people to join the conversation because food is important. Eating and getting food are key parts of life. Can we eat well but still protect the Earth?
You can book a spot on Eventbrite. This allows them to organize chairs and refreshments.
