Unlawful car garage on Dymoke Road, Hornchurch, to be converted into two new homes after council approval.

Havering Council denied a care home plan back in 2007, which would have held twenty beds. An old appeal revealed its past, showing it used to be a car garage and the council deemed it unlawful then.
It’s been vacant for a long time and We Are Upp said it wasn’t marketed well.
Documents show an industrial area nearby, beyond the site’s borders. The building sticks out as a commercial building amongst houses.
The council first saw the plan in 2023 and approved it now, after it changed a lot. They will partially demolish it and convert what remains into two homes.
The work must start soon, with a three-year deadline that starts from the decision date. The council must approve materials, parking must be ready before occupation, and work hours also need approval.
The council website lists all conditions, check that for more details.
