The Beeswing Inn hosted a charity event in East Cowton on March 1st. The event supported Macmillan Cancer Support with a twelve-hour darts marathon. A fun tournament concluded the event, offering players an “Ally Pally” experience. Nun costumes were part of the fun.

Local pub players competed in darts, and several pro players joined the event. Simon Whitlock, Mason Whitlock, and Robert Thornton spent hours playing against the locals. The pro players beat many of them.

Beth Robinson, the pub’s landlady, organized the event. Locals appreciate her and praised her community spirit and passion for the area.

Beth wanted to start conversations about male cancers and hoped people would talk about them. Her goal is the pub’s community focus, and she wants to be known for that.

Beth thanked many people for their help. Punch Pubs and Sky Sports were very generous and sent Simon, Mason, and Robert. Her Friday night darts team and Chad Pearson especially helped a lot. Macmillan’s team, DJ Adam Jackman, and Nile Gott added some professionalism. Locals dressed up, sang, and danced.

The goal was to score 100,000 points. They played darts for twelve hours, but the event extended to fifteen hours total. The knockout tournament went until early morning.

Rob Hall, 26, started strong with a 180. He is from a dart-playing family, and he said that the moment felt surreal. Rob screamed and celebrated!

He said the pub is valued locally and many people came to this darts event. He thought the event was heartwarming and the pub ran it well; it went better than expected!

The final fundraising total is coming soon. Beth thinks they beat the past Macmillan record, which is around £6,300.

Simon Whitlock, who won a World Cup of Darts, shared that his father died of cancer at 59 years old. This event helped him raise money for the cause and was a great thing for him.

Mason Whitlock’s grandfather also died of cancer. He wanted to fight the horrible disease and followed in his dad’s dart steps. He is making a name for himself now, and cancer touched his life too.

Mason said cancer is a terrible disease. His friend’s mom recently passed away, and he will do anything to help prevent it.

Liam Clarkson won the darts tournament, beating a reporter early on.
