Annual Swimathon comes to Burnley area pools March 28-30. All ages and skills can join to raise money for charities.

Folks of any age or skill can join. Help raise money for key charities, such as Cancer Research UK or Marie Curie. The Swimathon Foundation also benefits.
Swim distances vary for solo swimmers. You can choose to swim from 400 meters to 15,000 meters. Teams of two to five can do a relay. Relay options include 1.5k or 5k races.
Can’t make those dates? Try MySwimathon instead. Pick your swim location, date, and distance. This can be done between March 21 and April 6.
Duncan Goodhew, Swimathon’s president and an Olympic gold medalist, loves hearing participant stories each year. People swim for many reasons. Some swim for the first time, while others honor someone they lost.
Some folks swim amazing distances, while others recover or face illness. Everyone has a unique story to share. You can set your own challenge and just be yourself during the swim. Age and skill do not matter here; find your own motivation.
Swimathon started way back in 1986. Over 750,000 people have taken part, and they have raised over £55 million for charity.
Jemma Humphreys spoke for Cancer Research UK, saying Swimathon is a great event. People can try swimming and have fun while helping others. This support for causes that matter is a big motivator.
Fitness is not what truly matters. Check the Swimathon website for training plans. They have five or ten-week plans to help you prepare for the challenge.
