Two roads are still closed: High Street in Blackwood and Newbridge. Fights broke out in both Blackwood and Newbridge in two separate incidents, police say.

Gwent Police responded to trouble on Blackwood High Street after receiving a call around 2:45 pm on Thursday, February 13. Ten minutes later, they learned of trouble on Newbridge High Street.

Police arrested eight men because of the fights. Welsh Ambulance Service paramedics are at the scene. Superintendent Mike Preston stated the public is no longer in danger.

The eight men are in police custody now. Police will question them about what happened and to understand the injuries people sustained. If you can help, police ask you to contact them.
