Graeme Gordon is a finalist. He is up for an emergency services hero award. He volunteers with HM Coastguard and the Red Cross. People admire his calm leadership and appreciate his deep commitment.

Graeme has volunteered for over 40 years and is a station officer in Burghead. He helps safeguard Scotland’s coastline and mentors new coastguard personnel, ensuring the service’s future. Graeme previously worked at Diageo and now works part-time as a joiner.

Graeme has attended over 1000 emergency callouts. He qualified in Swift Water Rescue following floods in Moray in the 90s. He is a down-to-earth person who feels good helping others. His team trains to a high standard.

Iain Sandison is also a finalist for a Heroes award. His resilience and innovative approaches to helping others made him a finalist. He lives in Portknockie and is also nominated as community champion.

Iain has volunteered for over 40 years, giving dedicated service and making lasting impacts. After an accident that led to intensive care in 2016, he returned to volunteering.

Iain was a special constable, instructed army cadets, and led HM Coastguard in Buckie. Now, he volunteers with the wildcats and is also a first aid responder. He enjoys being a helpful volunteer and wants to help train others.
