Okay, so there is bad news about reopening a pumping station. It seems there are no quick plans to invest in flood control. People want the Black Sluice station back in action. Homes and fields suffered damage from floods this year. Places like Billingborough and Dunsby were affected.

A council report aimed to get Fens 2100 to help. They hoped Fens 2100 would consider costs to restart the Boston station. That station sits on the South Forty Foot Drain. Fens 2100 plans a Fens-wide flood investment plan.

Their reports show needed flood risk investments. The Environment Agency gave their thoughts on the situation. They noted heavier rainfall than expected in January 2025. Melting snow also raised the river levels.

After floods, they check their systems. This check ensures constant improvement of their actions. Fens 2100 will release reports this autumn. These reports show required investment for future flood risks. They will look at each Fens catchment area. The project explores future options to reduce flood risks.

But, right now, there are no plans to pump water at Black Sluice. Daniel Withnall runs the Black Sluice Drainage Board. He thinks the flooding of homes could have been stopped. If Black Sluice station worked, Pointon and Billingborough would be safer. Residents and farmers in the area agree with him.
