A man is banned from stores after stealing £40,000 worth of goods from BP stations in Essex, receiving suspended sentences.

The court sentenced Shimque this Thursday. His address is Ridgeway Gardens, Ilford. He received a suspended prison sentence lasting 16 months, suspended for two years. He also received a four-year Criminal Behaviour Order.
The order stops Shimque from entering two BP stations, one at Debden Broadway and the other in Ilford. Furthermore, he cannot enter any store with a face covering or without a way to pay.
A BP garage in Debden reported many thefts between June and October 2024. The total value of stolen items was about £40,000. Food and cigarettes were taken regularly.
The police investigated the thefts and arrested Shimque. They suspected him of business burglary because he repeatedly stole items from the BP garage. He took things from shelves and filled bags with cigarettes, also taking items from behind the till.
His 16-month sentence relates to the burglaries. The court suspended this sentence for two years. For the three thefts, he got nine months, also suspended. Both sentences will run at the same time.
Sergeant Jamie Shepherd commented on the case, stating this kind of crime hurts everyone and really impacts the businesses targeted. Police work hard to catch these criminals and help businesses prevent crime.
Shepherd explained the order helps reduce crime. He thanked BP for their help, as their evidence secured the conviction against Shimque.
