Road closures and temporary lights caused traffic near the school. A parent reports a near accident.

BT Openreach closed the roads. Workers needed to do emergency repairs. The school didn’t know about the work beforehand. One parent had a scary experience Monday morning. Rebecca Bolton nearly got hit by a bus.
She was biking to school from Sutton Courtenay. Both she and a bus drove onto the pavement. They wanted to get around the traffic jam. They headed straight toward each other. Both slammed on their brakes.
Bolton swerved her cargo bike to the right. Her son was riding in the front. She felt terrified at that moment. She was able to act fast to avoid harm. She worries about another pedestrian getting hurt.
Bolton said there is no A415 crossing there. She feels the area is just not safe. Locals didn’t know about the road work. The school staggered releasing students on Friday. This helped school buses leave easier.
Lynn Wood is the principal of Europa School. The school urged people to walk or bike, and suggested using school buses and off-site parking. They have no start date for the road work, but parents were great this morning, according to Wood.
The problems extend beyond the school. The junction is a vital commuter road. The school is concerned about Culham Bridge safety. Two-way traffic creates risks, especially for pedestrians and cyclists.
Primary school parents had staggered start times. Openreach said they are doing urgent repairs, replacing three damaged boxes located along the roadway. Traffic control is in place for safety.
The permit started Thursday, and should end by Tuesday. Openreach is sorry for the disruption it is causing. They want to safely complete all needed repairs.
