A former police officer admitted guilt. This follows a tragic paddleboarding accident where four people died.

Paul O’Dwyer, Andrea Powell, Morgan Rogers, and Nicola Wheatley died after encountering trouble on the River Cleddau, which runs through Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire.

Nerys Lloyd, age 39, has been charged and appeared in Swansea Crown Court today. Her company, Salty Dog, ran the tour, and she pleaded guilty to gross negligence manslaughter. Nerys currently manages operations for a charity.

The incident happened October 30, 2021, when a group of nine went paddleboarding. Heavy rain began shortly after 9 a.m., and emergency crews quickly arrived.

Paul, an ex-soldier, died trying to save the women. Andrea, a dental therapist, was critically injured and later died at the hospital. Four other people survived the paddleboarding trip.

Morgan’s family gave a heartfelt tribute after her death, saying she always did her best. Nicola’s family said her death left a void.
