Discover apprenticeship possibilities in Kings Lynn. West Norfolk Council and local employers offer support.

West Norfolk Council supports apprenticeships. Other employers do too, and they are showing their support this week. The Department of Work and Pensions organized an event where businesses showed off apprenticeship chances. The event was at the council office last Wednesday on the ground floor in Lynn.
Over 180 people came to the event. Students from Springwood High School attended and looked at future career paths. They also examined study options there.
Lilly Skeels studies environmental health and is on a Level 6 apprenticeship. She said apprenticeships let you learn skills at work, and you also earn a degree at the same time. Her colleagues support her a lot and help her gain needed skills.
Sam Garrod studies construction site management and is also on a Level 6 apprenticeship. He chose this since it offers hands-on training, and you learn while planning your future. He also says your career improves this way.
Garrod said it’s advantageous for everyone. He got promoted to clerk of works and contributes to a major housing project. This project provides many homes for the council.
Alistair Beales is the council leader. He said he’s proud to support apprenticeships, and the council values what they offer and bring. He encourages other employers to join in and create their own programs.
Kate Blakemore is the chief executive, and she believes in offering the programs. She also wants current staff to use them. The council encourages lifelong learning. Apprenticeships help people grow and stay motivated.
Blakemore is proud of the apprentices. They improve the organization a lot and help develop their skilled staff too.
