So, an architecture firm is working on a house called West Todholes Cottage, near Elsdon in Northumberland National Park. The firm is Giles Arthur Architects. They want to make some changes.

The house sits in farmland, its closest neighbor being East Todholes, about 243 meters away. The architects think the house is pretty hidden and don’t expect the changes to be very noticeable.

They plan to tear down part of the back of the house, including an old extension from the 1980s, and a bit of the original cottage. It’s hard to tell them apart now.

The 1985 extension messed up the house’s layout and made the ground floor feel cramped and poorly designed. They also added a pebbledash finish to the back, which is now cracked and ugly.

The back of the house doesn’t match the front, which is stone and traditional-looking. The back’s poor condition makes it look bad, and they changed the design based on feedback.

The new extension will be smaller and less prominent than the main house. The new build should be well-made and eco-friendly. They’re trying to create a nice family home.

The goal is bigger bedrooms and living areas. The changes they are making should improve the house and help it last longer. You can find more info online using reference 25NP0004.
