A woman in Suffolk worries about new houses. They are building these houses near her garden. She lives on Victoria Hill in Eye since 2010.

Pinky Palmer fears the houses will change her life. Persimmon Homes is building Castleton Grange. It is south of Eye Airfield, north of Castleton Way. They plan 127 new properties total, including 25 affordable houses and bungalows.

Pinky said early plans showed bungalows near her house. The builder changed them to two-story houses. She thinks the new houses are ridiculous and will block light and invade her privacy. Her garden is very narrow now.

She talked to Eye Town Council, who understands her concerns. Pinky sent photos to the planning department, part of Mid Suffolk District Council. The council shared that the houses will be angled. However, she thinks people will still see her backyard.

Her neighbors also worry about the new homes, anticipating an impact on their way of life. The area already has drainage problems now, which are expected to worsen with more houses nearby. The consultation for phase two ends today.

Pinky hopes officials use common sense so she can enjoy her garden freely and without worrying who can see her. She knew about the development plan at first, but the changed plans worry her. She could accept bungalows.

Phase one got approved in 2022, and construction started late in the year. The plan for phase two is due soon and will go to the planning authority before summer arrives.

A council person stated the application is open, and residents can still share concerns honestly. They consider all applications fairly, using public feedback to inform their decisions, aiming for the best possible outcome for all parties involved.

The council might work to adjust plans to limit impact, protecting neighbors and the environment. They expect the committee to review soon, with a decision expected in two or three months.
