Family climbs Tryfan in Wales to honour Tom, who died aged 18 from carbon monoxide poisoning, raising money for charity.

Tom died at age 18 from carbon monoxide poisoning. This happened nine years ago on a family holiday when he was with his girlfriend’s family.
Carbon monoxide is a dangerous, poisonous gas. It comes from burning gas, wood, oil, or coal. Appliances need enough oxygen to burn safely.
You cannot smell or see carbon monoxide, which makes it especially dangerous. The Hill family lives in Laverstock and will do a “memorial walk.” They want to raise money for the Carbon Monoxide and Gas Safety Society, a charity that really helped them.
Jerry said they want to remember Tom positively. They often took their sons to Wales, and Tom really loved the area. Tryfan is a good, but quite challenging, climb.
The charity works to reduce harm from gas dangers. These dangers include unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning.
Tom studied at Sparsholt and Stirling University. He enjoyed the outdoors a lot, and his family wanted an appropriate tribute. Jerry thinks Tom would be impressed by their climb and would really like it too. Tom was a very positive person who made the most of his life.
Tom was very close to his family. His brothers and other family will join the climb. Tom’s cousin will climb Le Dôle in Switzerland since she cannot be in Wales.
The family hopes to raise £2000. This money will go to the charity in Tom’s name.
