Family of murdered taxi driver in 1983, are pleading for DNA samples to help solve the decades-old cheesewire killing.

George was heading to Culter when he was attacked. This was on Pitfodels Station Road, near the Deeside railway line. The attack happened around 8:45 pm. His family still hopes to find the killer.
Police said they have a DNA profile from the scene. Forensic analysis made this possible. They are looking for genetic links. Police Scotland and the NCA have a list with 200 possible genetic matches.
George’s nephew urged people to come forward. He wants answers, even if the killer is dead. The family offered a reward for DNA. They think someone knows who did it and hope this person’s conscience will be pricked.
Alex McKay said giving information could bring closure. He asked people to think of his family’s pain. He thinks protecting someone shouldn’t matter now.
Alex called the police investigation “diligent,” but believes some resist DNA testing. He thinks the killer might be from outside Aberdeen, as the city’s oil industry was booming back then.
Detectives think the killer was a man aged 20 to 30. He would now be in his 70s. Alex said police are visiting people on their list and urged those holding out to think of them.
Police want to find a potential witness, seen in 2015 wearing an Iron Maiden T-shirt outside Wilson’s Sports Bar. They haven’t found him yet.
George’s widow, Jessie, died in 2004. Their nephew said they were a great couple. Detective Inspector James Callander wants answers for the family. He said they’re focusing on family DNA links, which could help them find people to help. He clarified these people are not suspects. He thanked those who gave DNA and urged others to contact officers.
The police continue to get information and thoroughly investigate everything new. Anyone with information should come forward. They want to give the family closure.
