Oladeji Omishore, 41, was tasered three times by the police. He then fell into the River Thames in June 2022.
Police first said he had a screwdriver. Later, it was clarified that he was holding a cigarette lighter. This was confirmed by investigators.
Now, an inquest has begun. It will examine his death’s circumstances over two years later.
The family made a statement, saying his life was cut short. They described their indescribable pain and hope it wasn’t in vain.
His death left a big void. They feel his potential was unrealized, and they hope this highlights policing issues. They stated no one should endure this.
