Downing Street islands face removal as Farnham prepares for town centre revamp to improve traffic and trade.

The project will start soon. Those little islands on Downing Street? They’re going away. They’re removing them as part of a big plan. This plan aims to change traffic flow.
It will also improve Farnham, they say. Roadwork starts Monday, February 17th. Surrey County Council approved the work. It’s on The Borough, between Castle Street and West Street.
They’ll remove the islands in two weeks. This lets cars turn right at the bottom of Castle Street. Expect some traffic delays during the day. They will use temporary traffic lights.
Eleven overnight road closures will occur. They will set up detours, so don’t worry. Walkers and cyclists can still get through. Buses will also be guided through when needed. Making Downing Street two-way starts in March. That work should take about eight weeks. It’s between Longbridge and Lower Church Lane. Farnham is changing!
