Sheila Maxwell discussed Harlech land and property sales from the Holland and Finch Hatton Estates to the Historical Society.

She focused on big estates in the area. These estates had Harlech farms and other buildings. She looked at sales from 1907 and 1911. These sales involved the Holland and Finch-Hatton Estates.
Next, in February, they’ll talk about Harlech Castle. Robin Emmerson, Neil Evans, and Siân Roberts will lead. Their topic is “Harlech Castle: Context, Building and Meaning.” They will ask interesting questions about the castle.
Why did they build it in the 1280s? How did they actually construct it? Who was responsible for building it? Was it linked to Welsh stories? What exactly did it represent?
The talk happens on February 11th. It starts at 7:30 PM at Memorial Hall, Twtil, Harlech. Everyone can attend. Members get in free, and it’s £3 for non-members. Refreshments will be available.
