A man died at the scene after a major crash on the A5 Nesscliffe Bypass. The road closed in both directions for hours.

Police, ambulances, and fire crews showed up, requiring traffic to find alternative routes. The road remained closed for many hours that evening.
Ambulance staff dispatched numerous responders rapidly. Two air ambulance cars came from Cosford, alongside three regular ambulances and a paramedic officer.
One man was in critical condition, with bystanders performing CPR on him. Ambulance workers took over immediately upon arrival and provided advanced life support, but he unfortunately died at the scene.
Medics assessed a second man at the crash site. He had minor injuries that were treated, and he was released without hospitalization. No other individuals required medical assistance at the time.
Police from Shrewsbury also attended the scene, indicating a prolonged A5 road closure. They advised people to choose different routes and expressed their appreciation for everyone’s patience.
The fire department reported that four cars had crashed, prompting a response from five fire crews. Firefighters arrived from Oswestry, Shrewsbury, and Wellington, along with an officer managing small gear.
A fire station manager described the incident as very serious. The A5 was closed between Wolfshead Island and Felton Butler island, causing significant traffic problems. He asked drivers to use other routes, if possible, and said they planned to give updates later. The fire department thanked people for their help.
