A driver fled after a high-speed crash wrecked a house and cars on Canterbury Road, Faversham. Passenger treated.

The car wreck was near Salters Lane junction. This happened before 5:30 AM on Sunday. Stefan Gordon, an HGV driver, saw the crash. He was driving home on the A2 at the time.
Gordon said a Citroen sped toward Sittingbourne. The driver lost control, going about 70 mph. The car hit a grass verge and rolled. It then crashed into a house and two parked cars. The passenger stayed, but the driver fled.
The passenger had a forehead cut; blood was visible on the car’s airbags. Gordon thinks fast drivers risk others’ lives. He noted that children live in those houses and a crash could easily kill a child.
Alfred Martin lives on Canterbury Road and woke up to a chaotic scene, describing the sight as a “disaster”. The house’s bay window was smashed inward. He had never seen such a wrecked car before. Martin says the car’s back and roof were flattened.
He wondered how anyone escaped the car. Martin wants better signs and another speed camera. He noted the current speed limit is 30 mph but that People often drive 70 mph there.
Martin wants more speed signs and believes a speed camera is needed. He worries someone will die before action is taken; someone could have been walking on the pavement.
Police said they were called around 5:30 AM, reporting that a car hit two parked cars and a house. Officers arrived to find the driver gone. No one was reported injured at the scene. The car has been recovered by authorities, and police are now looking for the driver.
