A 25-year-old is in custody after drug raids in Newport. Police executed warrants in Alway & Bettws on Thursday.

Police arrested a fifth person, also in relation to the Alway and Bettws drug warrants. The 25-year-old remains in custody as police continue their investigations.
Early morning drug raids happened recently, with police arresting four people. Warrants were executed in Alway and Bettws, also on February 20, and police shared a video of the raid.
Officers used a chainsaw to enter a property. They found cash, phones, and class A drugs.
A man and woman, both 19, were arrested for possibly supplying class A drugs and intending to supply them. A 30-year-old man also got arrested, potentially for supplying drugs and possessing criminal property.
Police also arrested an 18-year-old man for suspected involvement in drug supply. PC Jack Passmore commented that public information is very important, helping them fight illegal drugs in Newport, and he hopes the warrants show residents their input matters.
