East Cheshire introducing fines for parents parking illegally near schools. New cameras enforce rules, enhancing child safety.

New cameras will read license plates. These cameras will enforce parking rules. Ivy Bank and Marlborough Primaries gain cameras. Also, Manor Park and St Vincent’s will get them. These schools locate in Macclesfield and Knutsford.
Drivers breaking rules face a £35 fine. Quick payment within 14 days keeps it low. The fee then increases to £70 later. Imagine that cost added to everything.
Cheshire East Council wants expansion. They hope to spread the scheme borough-wide. Success of the plan decides its future. They want safer streets near their schools for everyone.
Mark Goldsmith spoke about the trial. He leads the highways and transport committee. He calls it an important safety scheme outside many schools. Congestion occurs at start and end times.
Parking is a big, old problem for them. Regular enforcement is often not so effective. It only briefly changes bad parking, he says.
Parents often ignore it. They need something different. They wish more kids walked or biked. Maybe parents could park farther away. Then kids get dropped off safely. This would improve safety for various people. Students, locals, and guardians all benefit.
Derby City Council is helping out too. They even run a similar system elsewhere. They have a good amount of helpful experience.
