Firefighters tackled an electrical fire at Reading’s Admiral Casino. Roads closed, buses diverted, but no evacuations needed.

Firefighters went to Admiral Casino. People reported an electrical fire there. Crews came from several stations, including Caversham Road and Wokingham Road. Wokingham and Whitley Wood also helped, and two officers went too.
Police helped a lot by managing the crowds well and controlling the roads. Ruby Nails stayed open nearby, and they didn’t evacuate that building. Nisbets said they stayed quite busy; they just saw the fire engines pass by.
A person spoke to a reporter, saying police gave helpful directions. Buses were going to Blagrave Street, avoiding the TGI roundabout. The person thought police did a great job.
The roads closed were Friar Street and Greyfriars Road. Buses had to change routes. Sky Blue 15/16 went to West Street, and Royal Blue 33 also diverted there.
A casino worker saw something, saying folks threw cigarettes toward the building which started a fire outside the casino. Pillars are outside the building, and the fire started near them.
A staff member saw the flames reach the building’s outside and tried to put it out. Then, someone called 999. The road has reopened now.
