Maxika Homes’ project to replace Oxford Road car garages with 32 flats gets refused by council on February 18th.

Four buildings were planned in total, containing 32 flats. The garages used to house car dealers, including Peugeot and SsangYong.
The site is near other flats; The Roebuck Hotel became 11 flats, and homes were built at 1030-1040 Oxford Road.
Maxika Homes planned three-story buildings. Ten flats would have been affordable, twenty would have two bedrooms, eight would have one bedroom, and four would have three bedrooms.
Future residents would share parking spots. Ten regular spaces and two disabled spaces were planned.
The council refused the project on February 18th. The plan can be seen with reference PL/24/1500.
Maxika Homes has built flats before, replacing the driving test center on Elgar Road South with 16 flats last April.
