Two Flintshire shops, The Bookshop Mold and The Berwyn Bookshop, are up for a national award!

The award is for shops helping their communities. They bring books beyond the literary world.
Tom Tivnan works at The Bookseller. He said bookstores offer hope right now. He judges the award each year. This year’s entries had amazing quality and energy.
The finalists will compete by region first. Then, they compete for the big prize. The British Book Awards ceremony is May 12, 2025. It happens in central London. The winner might also get another prize! It would be Book Retailer of the year.
Ruth Gardner works at Gardners. She said each store has a unique story. She mentioned they help make reading accessible. The award celebrates their work.
Meryl Halls heads the Booksellers Association. Independent stores are super important. They have a vital role in society, she said. They foster communities and champion authors. The stores also boost the economy. They create local jobs.
