Flintshire Council ceases operations at County Hall, Mold, due to high costs. Services relocate to Ty Dewi Sant in Ewloe.

Council Leader David Hughes said the move was planned because County Hall cost too much to run. The move should save £371,000 in 2025/26, which helps the Council’s budget issues.
The Council relocated to Ty Dewi Sant in Ewloe, where some services already operate. Ty Dewi Sant is modern and flexible, ensuring residents will still get great service.
Reception services moved to Ewloe on March 3. Please send mail to Ty Dewi Sant, St. Davids Park, Ewloe, CH5 3FF. The Council will forward mail from County Hall for a year and asks people to update their records.
NEWydd Catering will stay at County Hall for now, needing the kitchen space for school meals. They will move when they have alternative space, and Llwynegrin Hall services are not affected.
County Hall was designed by Robert Harvey and opened in 1968 by Princess Margaret. The building has been controversial; some think it’s ugly, but it is Grade II listed.
Some County Hall buildings were demolished in 2020, and the remaining buildings will also be demolished. Council meetings stay hybrid, but Ty Dewi Sant has limited space, so Council operations will also remain hybrid.
