Police probe waste fire in Burtonwood. Illegally dumped trash ignited, spreading to nearby hedges and stables.

The fire spread to hedges near some stables. Police are now investigating and want to find the vehicle used to help trace who dumped the trash.
A police officer spoke about the incident, saying they found burning household waste illegally dumped on Old Alder Lane. The officer mentioned the fire spread to a hedgerow close to stables, potentially growing fast and becoming uncontrollable.
Firefighters then put out the fire and dampened the area around it. Police ask people to check waste removers, ensuring they are legitimate and licensed, as they continue to search for the vehicle.
Another incident occurred that weekend: someone dumped plasterboard and pallets in Winwick. Winwick Parish Council knows about the fly-tipping and is working with the council, using reference numbers to track it.
The council thanked some litter volunteers who acted quickly at the site.
