Steven Bland saw lots of dumped trash on Water Lane, near Thornton Road. Mattresses and furniture were dumped there, along with empty paint tins and cardboard.

He shared a video of the mess online, on X. Steven walks there daily to get to work because the location is near Bradford City Centre. He questioned its image as a city of culture.

The Telegraph & Argus asked the council about the trash; the council plans to clear the site quickly. Steven, age 42, walks past it every day and said the trash gets worse each week.

Water Lane goes from Dyson Street to Thornton Road. Google Earth showed it was clean in 2012, and he feels disgusted by the current state. Bradford is the City of Culture this year, and he thinks walking through the trash is awful.

The council said they were not aware of it but are now arranging a quick cleanup. People can report illegal dumping to the council by calling them at 01274 431000 too.

Fly-tipping means illegally dumping waste on roads or footpaths. People who do it may face jail or fines, and their vehicles might be seized.

Councillor Sarah Ferriby spoke about fly-tipping last year, noting that few people do it, not most residents. It hurts people’s mental health sometimes.

People work hard to keep their area nice, so fly-tipping frustrates and angers them. It makes people feel bad in their community and also costs taxpayers money. The council says it’s not okay.
