Valley View, a former children’s home, sold for £898,000 after being listed with a guide price of £690,000.

The Council will sell over 150 properties because of a big financial shortfall. Valley View was first listed for auction earlier this year with a listed price of £750,000, however, it didn’t sell at that time.
The property was relisted for online auction this week. This time, the guide price went down to £690,000, but it actually sold for £898,000. Council properties often sell above their stated price.
A plot of land off Woodside Road sold well, despite having Japanese Knotweed. This land in Wyke had a guide price of only £5,000. Surprisingly, someone paid £85,000 for it.
Bradford Council needed special funding and got permission for something unusual. They used money from selling assets to pay for normal Council services; usually, this cannot happen. Normally, sales money goes toward new capital projects.
Other Council properties sold at auction recently, too. Flappit Springs, near the Flappit Pub on Halifax Road outside Keighley, sold for far more than expected. It had a £5,000 guide price but sold for £71,000.
A petrol station on Hammerton Street, on the edge of the city center, also sold. Its guide price was £25,000 to £30,000 and it ended up selling for £93,000.
A site on Cliffe Lane West, a 1.85-acre spot in Baildon, also went up for auction. Its guide price was £150,000, however, it was sold for £160,000 instead.
Some shops and businesses owned by the Council also sold. They are located at 1-3 Browgate and 2-3 Westgate in Baildon. The guide price was £395,000, but they fetched £435,000.
Shops on Chapel Lane in Bingley (7-9, 11, 13, and 13a) which are leased to businesses, were also auctioned. Surprisingly, they sold for £143,000, against a £350,000 guide.
A house on Belgrave Road in Bingley also sold. The four-bedroom terraced house, number 36, had a guide price of £130,000, and someone purchased it for £143,000.
Lastly, a commercial building on Thornton Road was sold. Johnstone’s Paint leases it, until 2080. The guide price was £170,000, but the final selling price was £248,000. The buyers’ names were not released.
