Savile’s old house in Glencoe, Scotland, caught fire Saturday. Firefighters responded, and investigations are underway.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three fire engines. Police Scotland closed the A82 road between Tyndrum and Ballachulish Bridge. People should avoid the area.
The house was empty since Savile died in 2011. Prince Charles once dined there in 1999. Police searched the house in 2012, seeking evidence of his crimes.
Savile abused around 20 victims at that house. The property fell into disrepair, and people often vandalized it. They wrote insults on the walls, which whitewash couldn’t stop.
Someone bought it at auction after Savile’s death for £212,000. Harris Aslam, a grocer, bought it later in 2021. He wanted to redevelop the site.
Councilors approved demolition plans last July. They called the building a stain that marred “Scotland’s most outstanding landscape.”
